Our marine station

Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre is part of the World Association of Marine Station Network.

It was built in the 1970s with grant support from the National Research Council of Canada, to establish a permanent base for the Alliance’s marine and coastal-oriented field operations. Today, it is western Canada’s only year-round marine station.
